Paola Egonu scored 29 points for VakıfBank Spor Kulübü in the all-Turkish semi-finals of the 2022 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Club World Championship against Eczacıbaşı Dynavit İstanbul and will clash with her ex-teammates in the final.
With the exception of the third set, Turkey’s VakıfBank Spor Kulübü dominated the semi-final of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship 2022 in Antalya against compatriots and official hosts Eczacıbaşı Dynavit İstanbul and reached Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano in the final. It’ll be yet another challenge at the highest level between two clubs that are writing the history of international volleyball in recent years. It’ll be a replay of the last final in the competition in which VakıfBank prevailed 3-2.
The long-awaited confrontation between the two best opposites in the world, Italian Paola Egonu and Serb Tijana Bošković, the spearhead of Eczacıbaşı, was clearly won by the former, who put down 29 points in just three partials. Bošković notched 21.
For the third consecutive time, Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano will play in the final of the Club World Champs. In a one-way semi-final, Daniele Santarelli’s team peremptorily overcame the Brazilians of Gerdau Minas, beating them with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-21), the score which clearly shows the difference in values seen in the court.
Canadian Alexa Gray and Swede Isabelle Haak of the ‘Panthers’ shared the match top scorer’s accolades with 15 points apiece.
