VNL W: Poland Tops Volleyball Nations League Standings

Poland finished the first week of the Volleyball Nations League 2024 at the top of the standings with a flawless record of four wins and a 12-0 set ratio. On Sunday in Antalya, Poland’s star opposite Magdalena Stysiak led her team to a 3-0 sweep against Japan (26-24, 25-20, 25-23), marking Japan’s first defeat. Japan currently sits sixth in the table with a 3-1 record and 8 points. Stysiak scored a match-high 22 points, including one ace and five kill blocks. Martyna Lukasik added 11 points for Poland, while Kotona Hayashi and Mayu Ishikawa led Japan with 11 and 14 points respectively.

Earlier on Sunday, the Netherlands defeated Germany 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-23, 25-20. The Netherlands, led by 20-year-old Elles Dambrink with 20 points, now hold the eighth position in the VNL standings with a 2-2 record and 6 points, while Germany sits at 11th with a 1-3 record and 3 points.
