The last week of the Women’s 2024 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) Preliminary Phase starts Tuesday in Fukuoka. Japan welcomes seven national teams for Pool 6 matches, with attention on the Netherlands and Canada. These teams are closely ranked in the FIVB World Ranking and are vying for Olympic qualification for Paris 2024 and a spot in the VNL Finals in Thailand.
Italy, Japan, and China are nearly set for Paris, but the Netherlands and Canada are in a tight race. The Dutch currently hold the final Olympic qualifying spot, barely ahead of Canada by 2.21 points.
In Hong Kong, Pool 5 matches feature top-ranked Poland and Brazil, both undefeated, alongside Bulgaria, China, the Dominican Republic, Germany, Thailand, and Türkiye. Poland and Brazil, nearly assured of Finals spots, will face off on Wednesday, aiming to secure top positions.
The VNL Finals will be held in Bangkok from June 20-23, with the top seven teams from the Preliminary Phase joining the host nation.
