In a thrilling encounter at Ljubljana’s Stožice, Slovenia edged out Cuba 3-2 in their second Nations League match of Pool 5 tournament.
Both teams alternated wins in the first four sets, with Slovenia taking the lead twice, only for Cuba to equalize each time. Slovenia missed some crucial set points in the fourth set. The match went into a decisive fifth set, where Slovenia prevailed with a score of 15-8.
Five Slovenian players scored double digits, led by Tonček Štern with 19 points. Klemen Čebulj added 17, Jan Kozamernik 14, and both Alen Pajenk and Tine Urnaut scored 11. Marlon Yant Herrera was Cuba’s top scorer with 20 points.
