Qatar is looking to volleyball as a unique way to attract more global visitors. Last week, Fabio Azevedo, President of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), met with His Excellency Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, to discuss how the sport can play a role in promoting the country as a top destination. The meeting was also attended by Ali Ghanem Al Kuwari, President of the Qatar Volleyball Association.

The conversation centered around organizing major international volleyball events in Qatar, showcasing the country’s growing reputation as a hub for global sports. It also aligned with Qatar’s National Vision 2030, which focuses on using sports and tourism to diversify and strengthen the nation’s economy.

Both sides explored opportunities to enhance volleyball infrastructure and support the sport’s growth through strategic initiatives. With its world-class venues and passion for hosting high-profile events, Qatar is aiming to combine sports and tourism to create unforgettable experiences for visitors from around the world.
