Poland secured a hard-fought 3-2 win over China in the Volleyball Nations League 2025 quarterfinals, earning a spot in the semifinals for the third straight year.

In a match full of tension and momentum swings, the Polish squad rallied twice to overturn deficits and clinch the win (17-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-19, 15-12) in front of a passionate home crowd at Atlas Arena.

Poland’s victory was driven by standout performances from its key players, especially opposite hitter Magdalena Stysiak, who tallied 25 points, including 22 kills and three blocks. Backed by contributions from Martyna Czyrniańska (16 points), Agnieszka Korneluk (13), Martyna Łukasik (11), and Paulina Damaske (11), the team demonstrated depth and cohesion.

China matched Poland’s energy throughout, with Wu Mengjie delivering an equally impressive 25 points and Zhuang Yushan adding 20. However, Poland’s dominance at the net (16 blocks to 11) and sharper serving (6 aces to 2) proved crucial in the narrow win.

Despite China’s edge in total points from opponent errors (24-18) and a slight lead in kills (64-63), Poland’s clutch performances in the fourth and fifth sets secured the win.

With this victory, Poland secures another chance at a medal following back-to-back bronze finishes in 2023 and 2024. Meanwhile, Italy awaits in what promises to be a high-octane semifinal.

The remaining quarterfinal matches will see Japan clash with Türkiye and Brazil face Germany.
