The 2025 Volleyball World Championship in the Philippines has delivered yet another stunning twist — Brazil, one of the sport’s greatest powerhouses, has been eliminated at the group stage.

Placed in Group H, the Canarinhos fell victim to an unexpected scenario. Their hopes rested on the final clash between the Czechia and China. A straight-set Czech victory would seal Brazil’s fate, and that’s exactly what happened. The Czechs triumphed 3–0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-18), edging out Brazil in the standings by just one set won more.
This shock comes only hours after another volleyball giant, France, also bowed out of the competition following a 2–3 loss to Argentina. Both results mark one of the most dramatic days in recent championship history.
Serbia and the Czechia advanced from Pool H, while Brazil and China were sent home.
