Poland booked their spot in the last eight of the 2025 World Championship after defeating Canada 3-1 in the Round of 16 in the Philippines. The victory marked their fourth straight win under coach Nikola Grbić, keeping their title ambitions alive.
The match saw Poland start strong, stumble briefly in the second set, but quickly regroup to dominate the remainder with scores of 25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 25-14.
Leading the charge for Poland was Kamil Semeniuk with 18 points, followed closely by Bartosz Kurek (15) and Wilfredo Leon (14). Canada’s Sharone Vernon-Evans stood out with 23 points, while Jackson Young contributed 12.
A key difference came from errors—Canada handed over 35 points through mistakes, compared to just 16 from Poland.
Earlier in the tournament, Poland swept Romania and Qatar before overcoming the Netherlands, topping Group B. Next up, they face Türkiye in the quarterfinals.
