WCH U21 M: Russia and Poland played incredible matches for first places in Pools

With the match between Brazil and Russia, the second round of the FIVB World Men’s Championship U 21 is finished. We have all four semifinalists.

Although Russia and Brazil already secured their spots in semifinals, tonight they played one amazing match which was finished after a tie-break. We can say that this was like a match for the gold medal…

Russia won 3-2 (25-20, 21-25, 30-28, 19-25, 17-15) although they led 2-0 and Brazil equalized on 2-2 and led almost until the end.

Middle blocker Alexey Kononov scored 23 points for the winning team whilethe opposite of the opponent team  Davy Silva Moraes scored 23 points for Brazil.

Today, during the day Poland outplayed Iran in also incredible battle3-2 (27-29, 25-21, 20-25, 25-20, 15-11) and stayed unbeaten. They have qualified for the semifinals as the winner of Pool E.

So, in the semifinals, Russia as the winner of Pool F will face Cuba the second ranked in Pool E, while Poland will meet Brazil.

Tomorrow is the free day.
