GP 2017: Turkey close to shock Brazil, but Rosamaria and Tandara had something else in the plan

Brazilian Women’s National Team prevailed in the most dramatic encounter of the entire Week 1 of the 2017 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix – Group 1.

The female „Seleção“ was forced to play the tie-break with Pool A1 hosts Turkey, in Ankara, but ultimately disappointed their fans 3-2 (24-26, 25-17, 25-18, 22-25, 15-13).

Brazil poured 12 aces comparing to Turkey’s 5, while both sides showed excellent blocking display, but with Brazil making much more (19-13).

Rosamaria Montibeller pushed Brazil throughout whole match along with Tandara Caixeta as they both noted 20 points with Tandara dominating in the tie-break. In Turkey, Fatma Yıldırım scored 16.

Brazil finished Week 1 with 2-1, Turkey have 1-2.

Sarina Koga led Japan to upset (3-2) versus Pool C1 hosts The Netherlands, in Apeldoorn, with 22 points. Robin de Kruijf and Anne Buijs topped Dutch team with 17 points each.
