Russia got a hold on the pole position in Pool B before the semifinals as they beat the United States in straight sets with both teams securing a semifinal berth in the previous round – 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-21).

The „Zbornaya“ exposed themselves as favorites No.1 for winning an inaugural edition of the Nations League since they clinched eight of the last nine games prior to this one, sending USA on Pool A leaders (still unknown) in the semis.

Maksim Mikhailov led Russia today with 16 points, while Aaron Russell made 14 points for the United States, of which he chipped half of them in the opening set.
