One of the most promising coaches in European volleyball, Fulvio Bertini, has been fighting cancer for a while.

The 40-year-old Italian expert Bertini decided to keep commanding French top division side Nantes-Rezé despite the fact that he’s sick, more precisely, he has lymphoma.

The young coach was in the midst of a fight against the cancer of the lymphatic system at the moment when coronavirus started to spread across Europe. Due to his obligation to undergo treatments, Bertini’s club didn’t want to play an away match against Ajaccio just before the suspension of the season in France. However, Bertini will continue to train Nantes during the summer and next season as well.

Nantes finished the last season at the fifth place in the Ligue A.
