In the shadow of the Paris 2024 Olympics and its volleyball competitions, a significant development has emerged in French volleyball. The Nantes-Rezé club, a former French Cup winner, has been forced to withdraw from the top tier of the French volleyball league due to financial difficulties. As a result, the Ligue Nationale de Volley (LNV) announced that the upcoming season will feature only 13 teams instead of the usual 14, as Ajaccio’s application for a wild-card entry was also rejected.
On the women’s side, Quimper has been promoted to Ligue A, while Aix-Venelles retains its spot with a controlled budget. The opponent for Saint-Nazaire, the French champion, in the upcoming Super Cup will be decided next week.
