
Levallois-Paris took a big step toward defending their title by edging Nantes 3-2 on Wednesday in the first leg of the French Championship Final.
Despite a strong start by Nantes, who won the first set 25-16, Levallois rallied to claim victory in five sets (16-25, 25-17, 16-25, 25-21, 15-11).
Haylie Bennett scored 23 points for Nantes, while Natalia Murek (20 pts) and Bianca Cugno (18 pts) led Levallois to the win.
The second leg is set for Saturday in Paris.
