“I am very happy. It’s a great satisfaction for our hard work. When you start the competition with so many great teams like Russia, Bulgaria, Italy, Poland, and when you win the gold you say – WOW, this is unbelievable. And we did it this year! We have dreamed about this, especially because we were in tough group. We managed to defeat Italy, then we faced Bulgaria, here at their court. When we started the game we were impressed with the atmosphere. We were like – Where are we? What should we do now? But we managed to win that match and to qualify for the finals. Today, we played way better. Slovenia is a great team, but we managed to win all crucial points.”
Tillie stated that he is proud of his team and that perhaps he should now put even bigger goals in front of the players.
“When I took over this team three years ago, we were nothing. We were not in top 5 at European Championship, we were not in top 5 at the World Championship… I said OK, now I will write our goals and we need to start working. Every single goal I wrote on that day my team fulfilled! It’s unbelievable. So now perhaps I should write – We need to win the Olympic Games…”
