In the first competitive match of the new season in the German men’s volleyball, Berlin Recycling Volleys noted a convincing victory in the 2020 comdirect Supercup for men.
The club from the country’s capital beat the hosts United Volleys Frankfurt in three tight and contested sets, partially 29-27, 25-22, and 25-22. Berlin’s victory is even more valuable given they played the match at the Fraport Arena without both opposite hitters enlisted in the roster for the 2020/21 season: American Benjamin Patch and Brazilian Dfavy Moraes.
Patch’s compatriot, the outside hitter Cody Kessel, was the substitute on the opposite hitter position. The Frenchman Timothée Carle top-scored Berlin with 18 points. Anton Brehme made 4 blocks, while Julian Zenger had 75 % reception (31 % perfect). Daniel Malescha was United Volleys’ most prolific player with 17 points.
2020 comdirect Supercup, men:
United Volleys Frankfurt – Berlin Recycling Volleys 0-3 (27-29, 22-25, 25-27)
