Germany failed to cap off a perfect weekend as they went down 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 19-25, 25-23) to Bulgaria while Argentina bounced back after their loss to the hosts on Sunday by disposing of Portugal in straight-sets (28-26, 25-20, 25-21).
“There are again so many Bulgarian fans and we wanted to give this victory to them, of course for us it’s important but for them the victory was very special”, an elated Bulgaria captain Vladimir Nikolov said. “We played well again and in my opinion the key for this victory was our great service, we made only six mistakes.”
All four teams will clash again in Buenos Aires, Argentina in three weeks time with the focus now turning to Katowice, Poland where the hosts welcome Canada, Brazil and Finland in Pool B.
