Olympiacos defeated Panathinaikos 3-1 in the Greek Women’s Volleyball Super Cup final at a packed “Nikos Paximadas” arena. One of the most decorated (or most desorated) sports club in Europe now boasts a total of 319 trophies (domestic and international) across the five core Olympic team sports, in both men’s and women’s competitions!
MVP Milica Kubura led Olympiacos with 35 points in a thrilling 109-minute match. Despite Panathinaikos winning the second set, Olympiacos dominated with strong serve and decisive plays, sealing the victory in four sets (25-16, 22-25, 25-21, 25-22). Top performers included Kubura (35), Abderrahim (19 points), and Emmanouilídou (11 points) for Olympiacos, while Bogumila Biarda led Panathinaikos with 17 points. It should be noted that Panathinaikos was significantly weakened as they were without one of their key players and team leaders, Martina Šamadan, who missed this match due to an injury.
Coach Lorenzo Micelli praised his team’s effort, while Panathinaikos coach Giannis Charitonidis acknowledged struggles in attack.
