Eleni Kiosi and Evangelia Chantava top scored in the end with 14 points; Natalia Kurnikowska was the only Polish player to finish the match in double digits with 10.
“Even though Poland changed a few players on their roster, I think that today we performed really well and this is a great result for our team,” Greece’s mentor Ioannis Kalmazidis commented. “We played very aggressive and we made only a very few mistakes, so I have to congratulate my girls. As far as a spot in the semis is concerned, I do not want to start any speculations. Our focus is solely on the next match. It would be great to celebrate a second consecutive victory over Poland though we know that this is a difficult feat to achieve.”
“I want to congratulate Greece on their excellent performance,” said Poland’s head coach Piotr Makowski. “Two weeks ago in Poland they played very good also in the second match we had with them on home soil. I think that the result is fair because our team had a lot of problems in reception. I expect we will be playing much better tomorrow.”
