ITA W: Monza reach 4th win in a row, Casalmaggiore survive scare from Club Italia youngsters

Saugella Team Monza carved their fourth win in a row 2018/19 Samsung Volley Cup A1 (Italian women’s volleyball league) to consolidate at the fourth place in the standings which is the last spot that secures a home court advantage in the playoff quarterfinals.

In the 22nd round of an Italian league (two rounds remained in the regular season), Saugella Team Monza defeated Lardini Filottrano at home by a 3-1 (19-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-18) thanks to notable display of their captain Serena Ortolani (21 points) and great team effort in blocking (11 kill blocks). Laura Partenio scored 15 for Filottrano. Libero Chiara Arcangeli made 79% positive reception.

Èpiù Pomi Casalmaggiore remained in contention for the fourth place at the end of the regular season by beating by far the worst team in the tournament Club Italia Crai (0-22). Still, the team from Italian capital Rome fought hard and lost only in the tie-break. Caterina Bosetti and Cuban Kenia Carcaces (5 kill blocks of team’s 14) scored 19 points apiece. The 18-year-old Terry Ruth Enweonwu was the best scorer in Club Italia with 21 points (75% positive reception). Another prospect made a noteworthy performance today for the losing side, a 16-year-old Loveth Oghosasere Omoruyi who made 79% positive reception.
