In the penultimate round of Superliga, Zenit Saint Petersburg needed a 3-0 or 3-1 win against Gazprom Yugra-Surgut to secure the third seed for the playoffs. And they did it – 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 28-26). Three players have returned to the court for Zenit – Cuban Oreol Camejo after a short time (played only in the first set) and Sergey Cehrvyakov and Artem Zelenkov after being sidelined for a long time. German György Grozer scored 11 points in the third set (23 overall) for Zenit which is the new club record. Bogdan Glivenko made 13 for Surgut.
Zenit Kazan secured the top seed in the regular season a long time ago which gave the chance to their coach Vladimir Alekno to rest the majority of his starters in the game against Enisey Krasnoyarsk. Andrey Surmachevskiy took advantage to show off his abilities to the head coach by notching 25 points for Zenit. Australian Paul Carroll scored 18 points for Enisey.
