The Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV), together with the men’s and women’s championships, has drawn up the protocol to allow the restart of the activities in these two competitions.

In full compliance with the country’s and regional legislation, and in regard to the risk of spread of COVID-19, the FIPAV composed the protocol to allow the restart of the activities of men’s and women’s top divisions, SuperLega and Serie A respectively, which will be valid as of September 1.

The new protocol was drawn up taking into consideration the proposals received from both leagues, their medical commissions, and the Italian Volleyball Medical Association (AMIV). The main purpose of the document is, of course, to provide the maximum possible guarantees for the participants, i.e. to minimize the risk of contagion.

Among the most important measures is the one relating to the presence of spectators in the stands: the maximum number of 1,000 spectators for outdoor venues (such are upcoming Super Cups) and 200 spectators for indoor venues will be allowed. The presence of the fans is, however, allowed only in the sectors of sports facilities in which it’s possible to ensure the reservation of the seat, that have adequate air circulation, and can secure a physical distance of at least one meter. Measuring the temperature of spectators upon accessing halls and usage of the mask will be obligatory.

One more important item in the FIPAV protocol is in connection with positive cases of the coronavirus among players. In case one club reports more than three positive cases of infection of its players, its match will be canceled.
