ITA W: Imoco prevail in big match vs Casalmaggiore, Stysiak leads Scandicci to win over Bergamo

The club world champions Imoco Volley Conegliano set off their 2020/21 Italian women’s volleyball Championship campaign on the right foot.

In the big match of Round 1 of the 2020/21 Lega Pallavolo Serie A Femminile regular season, VBC Èpiù Casalmaggiore failed in what turned out to be the mission impossible. They managed to rip off one set from Imoco Volley Conegliano but then lost the game in four sets, partially 23-25, 25-12, 25-15, 25-19.

The “Panthers“ played without their starting middle blocker Raphaela Folie, who underwent surgery on her right knee. Their top scorer today was Paola Egonu with 25 points. Dutch Robin de Kruijf set up 4 blocks, Sara Fahr made 87 % attack, while Monica De Gennaro had 86 % reception (71 % perfect). Brazilian Rosamaria Montibeller scored 20 points for Casalmaggiore, while American Kara Bajema made 70 % reception (50 % perfect).

Led by the Pole Magdalena Stysiak (33 points), Savino Del Bene Scandicci bounced back from 1-2 in sets against the home side of Zanetti Bergamo, for which Croatian Katarina Luketić put down 18 points.

Newcomers Delta Despar Trentino victoriously debuted in the top division (3-0 vs. Banca Valsabbina Millenium Brescia). Bosca S.Bernardo Cuneo stunned Il Bisonte Firenze (3-1).
