One of Europe’s best setters in the first decade of the 2000s (Best Setter in the CEV Champions League 2006 and 2012), Vermiglio, came out of a one-year retirement. The player who turned 44 in March joined the third division side in his home country, Sistemia LCT Saturnia Aci Castello.
The last club for which a two-time CEV EuroVolley Winner and a one-time FIVB World League winner performed prior to the retirement was Saber Volo Palermo (the Italian fourth division in 2018/19).
