The Puerto Rican opposite hitter Gabriel García Fernández ‘Gabi’, a member of his country’s national team, is the new opposite hitter of Lube.

A 22-year-old player came fresh from the final match of the NCAA Championship in which his team, Brigham Young University lost to Hawai’i. The high-level performances throughout the 2011 season in college, including the title match in which he was BYU’s top scorer, earned Gabi a prestigious award. He was named the best player of the NCAA by the American Volleyball Coaching Association (AVCA). In addition, Gabi was placed several times in an ideal All America team in his senior year.
