ITA W: Italy raised confidence before Grand Prix

Italy wrapped up its series of friendlies with a 2-0 card, routing Argentina 3-1 (25-21, 25-12, 20-25, 25-20) at San Bonifacio on Tuesday.

Italy tried to evaluate their opponents’ tactics in the first set.

After closing a tight first set successfully, they began to really dominate the game and took the second set as well Argentina managed to only score 12 points in the second set but managed to control the tempo in the third set resulting in a 25-20 win in their favour.

Martina Guiggi took charge and brought back Italy the momentum to cap off the fourth set and match with a score of 25-20.

With this win, Italy boosted its confidence by yielding good results from matches leading up to the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix.

Germany and Kazakhstan will join Italy and Argentina in Pool E as they open the first week of preliminary round in Montichiari.

FIVB Volleyball World Cup MVP Carolina Costagrande led Marco Mencarelli’s team by scoring 13 points. Captain Martina Guiggi helped Costagrande scoring 12 points.

Lucia Fresco and Emilce Sosa, who scored 19 and 16 points, respectively, led Argentina’s offence.
