The Italian men’s club volleyball giants Cucine Lube Civitanova announced the hiring of a world-class outside hitter – Ricardo Lucarelli.
The Brazilian international Lucarelli, who has just returned from the conquest of the VNL with his national team, has officially joined Italy’s Lube after several months of anticipation of this mega-transfer. Thus, the SuperLega champions have found the ideal solution to cover the vacant legacy of Lucarelli’s teammate from ’Seleção’ Yoandy Leal (went to Leo Shoes Modena).
Lucarelli has been an absolute star player, not only in Brazil but globally, for years, winning practically everything with the Brazil Men: 1 gold at VNL (2021), 1 gold at the FIVB World Cup (2019), 3 gold medals in the South American Championship (2017, 2015, 2013), 1 gold at the Olympics (2016), and 2 gold medals at the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup (2016, 2013). Last season in Itas Trentino, fierce rivals of Lube, was the first-ever season abroad of a 29-year-old player, who was individually awarded Best Outside hitter of the FIVB World League 3 times, FIVB World Championship once, and Rio Olympics once (among other individual titles).
