The most-capped player of the Slovenia Men’s Volleyball National Team, Mitja Gasparini, said goodbye to his international career.
Gasparini, the player who collected the most appearances in the jersey of the Slovenia National Team (206), revealed that he was ending his national team career. The head coach Alberto Giuliani has already been informed about a decision of a 37-year-old opposite hitter.
The last act of Gasparini’s long and rich international path was Slovenia’s debut performance in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League this summer. However, we will not see him at the upcoming CEV European Championships.
With his country’s national team, Gasparini won the 2015 CEV European League and was involved in the two entrances to the final at the EuroVolley (2015 and 2019). On a club level, he won 4 Slovenian Championships, 3 Slovenian Cups, one French Championship, and one Korean Championship. Among numerous individual awards, Gasparini claimed the Best Server award in the Italian Championship twice, and MVP of the Korean Championship twice and Slovenian Championship once (last season, which he spent in Calcit Volley).
