Italy’s men’s volleyball team clinched a 3-1 victory over Poland today with set scores of 25-15, 25-18, 24-26, and 25-20. This win marks Italy’s third straight three-point victory, securing them the top position in their group and the overall leadership among the eight teams advancing to the quarterfinals. Italy will now face Japan, the lowest-ranked team in the final eight.
In a commanding performance, Italy showcased their resilience and skill, especially during critical moments. The lineup remained unchanged with Giannelli and Romanò setting, Russo and Galassi in the middle, and Lavia and Michieletto as the outside hitters, with Balaso as libero.
Poland’s team, managed by Grbic, featured Janusz as setter, Kurek as opposite, and Leon and Fornal as outside hitters, with Huber and Kochanowski as middle blockers and Zatorski as libero.
Italy dominated the first set, overcoming a strong start from Poland to finish 25-15. They continued their strong play in the second set, eventually securing a 25-18 win. Despite a close third set that ended 24-26 in favor of Poland, Italy regrouped and closed out the match with a 25-20 win in the fourth set.
Poland, having already secured a quarterfinal spot, will face Slovenia in their next match.
