Blengini’s side downed Iran on their court 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-21) and crashed their Final Six hopes.
Italy‘s fantastic trio Vettori, Zaytsev and Juantorena created the win in Tehran! Modena’s opposite and Lube’s receiver had 14 points each, while new Perugia’s player added 13 points.
In home team, Sharham Mahmoudi was the only player with double digits – 13 points.
Italy will play against Serbia in the last match of the preliminary round, while Iran will meet Argentina.
