The most emotional message came from former player of Modena, Olympic champion with the Netherlands in 1996 Bas Van de Goor, who is fighting the cancer.
“I apologize for not being there with you, I’m doing the second cycle of chemotherapy and now I can’t move, but I’m with you with all my heart,” says de Goor, showing his jersey from 2002 when Modena won Scudetto – “This is the most beautiful jersey in the world”.
He got the standing ovations for these words. Bruno Rezende also congratulated the anniversary via video link.
The Italian sports newspaper Gazzeta.it has chosen the DREAM TEAM of Modena for these 50 years:
Quiroga, Van de Goor, Ngapeth, Contagalli, Giani, Bruno, Rossini (libero), Velaco (coach).
