A 27-year-old Rio Olympic Games participant, Cristian Poglajen, became the third newcomer in Ravenna for the next season. A player that competed with the Argentinian NT in recent matches of the 2017 FIVB World League – Group 1 (Preliminary Round) has chosen the fourth foreign club in his career (Knack Roeselare /BEL/, Effector Kielce /POL/ and Montes Claros Vôlei and São José Vôlei, both BRA).
Last season, Poglajen won the Cup of Argentina with Lomas Vóley and was targeted by the two best clubs in his country for 2017/18 – Personal Bolívar and UPCN San Juan.
Earlier, Ravenna contracted Bulgarian blocker Krasimir Georgiev (CSKA Sofia, Bulgaria) and Austrian opposite Paul Buchegger (Sieco Service Ortona, Division 2).
Ravenna remained without the backbone of 2016/17 sqaud: setter Luca Spirito (Calzedonia Verona), Puerto Rican opposite Maurice Torres (Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Poland), French receiver Julien Lyneel (Personal Bolívar, Argentina), Bugarian receiver Branimir Grozdanov (?), blocker Elia Bossi (Azimut Modena), Dutch receiver Maarten Van Garderen (Azimut Midena) and blocker Fabio Ricci (Sir Safety Conad Perugia).
