This year the initiative will be carried out at the Parish Social Center of Our Lady of Vitória, in Porto, namely at the Day-Care Center and the After School Recreation (ATL) of this institution, on December 19 at 10 am, with the goal of bringing some joy to children and young people in need. The Parish Social Center of Our Lady of Vitória is an institution of social solidarity whose main objective consists in developing a structured work for the development of the local community.
The centre addresses different age groups and problems, all of them associated, in last analysis, to situations of great vulnerability and fragility. With the collaboration of SC Espinho’s Miguel Maia, a 3-time Beach Volleyball Olympic athlete, who is always ready to help social causes, especially those for young people and children, the FPV initiative has once again been endorsed by the social institutions.
It’s with renewed hope that FPV and Gira-Volei intend to put a smile on the about 80 children and young people that will be attending that special action. “I believe that it is very important to be able to support those in need. I feel like I’m contributing to someone’s happiness. To be able to give love and affection to the children who are in a fragile situation and who feel this lack of love during the holiday season, it’s something that is within our reach and an opportunity that we should not waste. There is no greater victory than a children’s smile” states Miguel Maia.
