While Japan is still fighting with the consequences of a devastating Typhoon Hagibis, which took away 74 lives and left thousands of people stranded, volleyball returned to indoor facilities across the country. Round 3 of the 2019/20 V.League Division 1 regular season was on the schedule and was the first round in which all six matches this season were played.

Titleholder Hisamitsu Springs is one of the teams whose matches were postponed due to Typhoon Hagibis. They beat Hitachi Rivale by a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-22) to record a first win in the league, more precisely in the Premier Conference. The V.League’s superstar Fabiana Claudino made a striking debut for Hisamitsu. Brazilian middle blocker scored game-high 15 points, including 4 kill blocks.

The Star Conference leaders Toyota Auto Body Queenseis are invincible even after three games. They beat Kurobe Aqua Fairies in four sets on the road, partially 25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 25-14. Turkish international Neriman Özsoy kept shining as she poured in 26 points for the winnings side. Erika Araki made 5 kill blocks. American Simone Lee was a bright spot in the Aqua Fairies with 27 points.

After finishing her participation at the NORCECA Continental Championship, American opposite hitter Andrea Drews joined JT Marvelous and debuted with style. She put down 32 points in the 3-2 win of her team against Saitama Ageo Medics.
