HUNGARIAN CUP W: Vasas take over crown from Nyíregyháza

Vasas Óbuda regained the trophy of the Hungarian Women’s Volleyball Cup in their showcase after 5 years.

Vasas Óbuda won the 2019/20 Magyar Kupa Női after beating the hosts of the final match, and also trophy holders FATUM Nyíregyháza, in a decider by a 3-1 (27-25, 25-17, 24-26, 28-26). Thus, Vasas regained the supremacy over the national Cup after 5 years and became the most successful club in the competition history with 13 titles (leapfrogged UTE who remained 2nd placed with 12 trophies).

Slovakian Mária Kostelanská top-scored for the winners with 24 points. The prospect opposite hitter Elizabet-Lenke Varga poured in 29 points for Nyíregyháza. Vasas libero Dalma Juhár was chosen the best player of the competition, while her teammate Kostelanská received an award for the Most Valuable Player of the final.
