Famous Slovenian player Urnaut will no longer wear the jersey of the national team. The longtime captain, who made 185 appearances for Slovenia, last played for the national team in January, in the European Qualifications for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
“Every farewell is difficult, especially after all those years that I have dedicated to the national team and after all these beautiful moments that the guys and I have experienced. But the time has come, to say goodbye. Young players are coming and I am sure that Slovenian volleyball has a good future,” the 31-year-old outside hitter stated.
Urnaut won 5 medals with the Slovenia National Team, including the gold medal in the 2015 CEV European League and 2019 FIVB Challenger Cup. He was named Best outside Hitter in the 2015 CEV European Championship.
Sorry, you’ve been tricked jus as we were! A while upon publishing the news, the Slovenian federation announced it was an April Fool’s Day joke.
