The legendary Croatia National Team member, a 39-year-old opposite hitter Igor Omrčen, interrupted his one-year retirement!
Described by many as the best Croatian volleyball player ever has joined OK Split, a club in which he started his career. Omrčen, the winner of three Italian Championships, four Italian Cups, two Italian Super Cups, and one Japanese Championship, as well as two-time Best Scorer of the CEV European League, has retired a year ago.
In an interview for our website, Omrčen explained the reasons for such a decision.
Serbian Konstantin Čupković will also be playing in Croatia in 2020/21. A 33-year-old outside hitter reinforced the country’s record holders for league titles (19), HAOK Mladost.
Tours, whose jersey he wore when he was awarded the MVP of the 2018/19 French Championship, was also a club for which Čupković played last season.
Both players already made their debuts for their new clubs in the Croatian Cup.
