The two-time Super League champions Bayi withdrew from the competition whose part they were for 23 years. It was a sign for other clubs in the league to hurry up to engage top players from the Nanchang side among which there are three country’s national team members. According to the Chinese media, the trio has chosen new destinations for 2020/21.

The 27-year-old outside hitter Liu Yanhan (one-time Asian Cup and Chinese Championship MVP) will go to Liaoning, whose jersey she already wore in the 2018/19 season. A 23-year-old middle blocker Yuan Xinyue (one-time FIVB World Grand Champions Cup and Chinese Championship Best Middle Blocker) moved to Tianjin. A 22-year-old Gao Yi, also a middle blocker, strengthened Guangdong.
