BUL M: CL rookie claims Bulgaria’s national cup

By edging CSKA SOFIA in the final match with the score of 3:1 Marek Union-Ivkoni DUPNITSA claimed Bulgaria’s national cup for the first time in their history. Nsyden Naydenov's team that debuted in this year’s CEV Volleyball Champions League is also topping the tables of the national league in the Balkan country. Todor Valchev was the MVP.

The 24-year old team captain of Marek Union-Ivkoni, Todor Valchev, was named MVP of the finals played in the city of Gabrovo; he received that distinction from the Vice President of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation and former international star Lyubomir Ganev. Martin Bozhilov was awarded as best libero while Borislav Apostolov – another member of Marek Union – was chosen as best middle blocker of the competition.

The national cup final was attended by a large number of Volleyball fans but also by some real personalities, such as the head coach of Bulgaria’s national team Camillo Placi’, the Vice President and Secretary General of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation, Ivan Todorov and Stanislav Nikolov, as well as by Bulgaria’s Volleyball legend Borislav Kyosev.
