One day before the start of the 2013 CEV Youth Volleyball European Championship – Girls in Kladovo (Serbia) and Bar (Montenegro), Montenegrin Volleyball Federation President Cvetko Pajkovic, Head Coach Marko Radusinovic, Captain Marija Donovic as well as Libero Andjelija Petrovic informed the local press about their campaign for Europe’s most prestigious tournament in the age category of U17.

We are very happy and pleased that we got the opportunity to organize, together with the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, such a major volleyball event like the 10th edition of the CEV Youth Volleyball Girls’ European Championship 2013”, said Cvetko Pajkovic. “After a long preparation phase, we are now ready for the start of the championship and will do our utmost to promote the volleyball in our country. I’m sure our team will take the chance and show their steady progress. It would be great to finish amongst the best eight teams in Europe.

We managed to motivate many volleyball friends, our partners and the local government to make this championship organized in the best possible way, especially as the semifinals and finals will be played in Bar, which has a long volleyball tradition. We want everything to be organized on the highest level in order to demonstrate the value of new, young generations, as we expect this European Championship to bring us new hopes and future stars of volleyball sport.

A key role in the organization of the 2013 CEV Youth Volleyball European Championship – Girls has Olympic gold medal winner Igor Vusurovic as VFM Excom Coordinator and Executive Director of the federation. Vusurovic won gold at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sidney, claimed another gold medal at the 2001 CEV European Championship in the Czech Republic and finished second at the 1998 FIVB World Championship in Japan.

In collaboration with FIVB development programs, we mounted an ambitious school project in Montenegro“, said the former Olympic champion. “Future generations should have the chance to grow with volleyball. For the 2013 CEV Youth Volleyball European Championship – Girls, we gave our ladies the opportunity to prepare in the best possible way. I hope this investment will come to fruition.
