The two teams are already qualified to next year’s third round of events and will meet again on Sunday night to decide the first place. Both sides played with intensity even though the match was only a warm-up in anticipation of tonight’s contest.
The strong offense of Nicaragua, led by Claudia Noguera and the Traña siblings (Heidy and Hellen) combined with a pretty good effort by setter Lolette Rodriguez.
“Winning this match doesn’t translate into an advantage for tonight’s match,” Nicaraguan coach Rene Quintana stated. “Identical matches does not exist, one match is different to the other. I lost one of my middle blockers with a shoulder injury (Joasafat Diaz) and let’s see how the replacement responds.”
“I think the level of our intensity will increase for tonight’s match and people will see a differente Jamaica team,” Gatasheu Bonner of Jamaica said.
