Bulgaria – Romania

We had ups and downs during this match” says Bulgaria’s head coach Marcello Abbondanza. “The game was really close but eventually we got the upper hand and I think this victory means a lot to us. Now we need to recover after this exhausting game.

Sometimes it happens that we can’t give our best and this was not our day” singles out the head coach of Romania, Marian Constantin.

In the other match of the day the home heroines of Hungary caused quite a sensation as they beat Turkey in three straight sets (21-17, 21-16, and 21-16) to claim their second victory in this year’s European League.

The most positive thing about the match is that we enjoyed the game” says Hungary’s head coach Laszlo Hollosy. “We did our best both mentally and physically. Turkey did not come here with their best players but I am nevertheless very happy that we won.

Hungary’s best scorer (11 points) Renata Sandor: “The whole team did their best. Slowly but surely we are becoming a better group.

Home heroine Mariann Nagy: “Fortunately this game went well as we could stick to the tactics prepared by our head coach. We remained concentrated throughout the whole match. We have a very young team but with good potential.

Our serves were poor today but the worst thing is that my girls looked always afraid of making errors” says Turkey’s mentor Mehmet Bedestenlioglu. “We did lose but what really matters is the poor quality of our game today.
