This past June 28th Gent Dames was drawn in preliminary Pool C and will open their campaign by hosting last year’s winners VakifBank Istanbul of Turkey before playing Poland’s Atom Trefl Sopot and Romania’s Dinamo Romprest Bucuresti.

The club has a very busy schedule for the coming weeks with a gala match coming up on August 31st in Bourgoyen as Gent Dames plays host to China’s multiple champions Bohai Bank Tianjin. Starting from September 4th Gent Dames will join the international tournament held at FrasnesLezAnvaing playing there Bohai Bank Tianjin, their compatriots of Dauphines Charleroi and France’s SF Paris Saint Cloud in the prelims with semis and finals following over the weekend. The other preliminary group includes the likes of Budowlani Lodz (POL), Istres (FRA), VC Oudegem (BEL) and Sliedrecht Sport (NED).

One week later GENT Dames will once more test their likes in Valenciennes playing there Switzerland’s VFM Franches-Montagnes and RC Cannes of France with the finals following on September 15th. The last tournament that GENT Dames is set to join will take place in Evreux thereby starring the local heroines, plus Germany’s Aurubis Hamburg and Sagres Neuchatel (SUI).

The roster of the group has changed quite dramatically since the past season with seven players transferred to Gent: Karolina Goliat, Renée Verhulst, Laura De Schrijver, Adeline Lemey, Karolien Verstrepen, Lize Van Cleemputte and Brenda Taga.

Bieke Huyst has provisionally stopped playing but may be available in case of need while five players have left the club, with Delfien Brugman having moved to Hermes Oostende, Lisa Neyt to VC Oudegem, Elies Goos to Germany’s Dresdner SC, Flore Gravesteijn (NED) to Aurubis Hamburg while Gwendoline Horemans will be playing this year for Datovoc Tongere.
