The four coaches attended the opening press conference in Schwerin to talk about their impressions of their teams and their expectations for the championship. All four coaches agreed that Pool D might be “the most difficult one of all four groups with very strong teams,” as Serbian head coach Zoran Terzić summarized. “I am very satisfied with the preparation of my team although we did not have enough time due to playing the Grand Prix Finals in Japan”, Terzić added.

On the other hand, Poland’s head coach Piotr Makowski pointed out that the preparation was not so easy for his team. “We had some ups and downs in the preparation for the European Championship but I guess we will be ready. From his perspective the best team in Pool D is Serbia because of their strong players and their coach.

Bulgarian head coach Marcello Abbondanza also sees Serbia as a favorite in Pool D. “We are in a very good mental and physical condition but our group is very strong with a really virtuous Serbian team. However, there are many favorites to win the championship. Italy, Turkey, Russia and of course Germany are very strong teams,” Abbondanza added.

Carlo Parisi, head coach of the Czech Republic, is looking forward to the start of the competition but said: “We have a young team and the group won’t be easy for us. Nevertheless, our goal is to advance to the next stage of the tournament.”
