After losing to Poland, Slovakia will have a very demanding test with 2012 Olympic champions Russia. Some kind of a mission impossible.

We have played some friendly matches with them and this will help us for we know the way they play. We normally watch them on TV but it is totally different to stand on the other side of the net” says Slovak middle-blocker Tomas Kmet. “We have nothing to lose and we will fight until the end. Russia is the real favorite of this tournament but if we show good reception, then I think we can stand a chance with any opponent, including also Russia” he adds. Kmet shares some feelings about the game with Poland

“We played good in the first and second set where we pressured our opponents. However, Anastasi found the right solution with his changes, Michal Ruciak stabilized their reception and they started playing much better also in offense. We started out quite strong in the fourth set but it was already too late to attempt a comeback. I think that in the end we played a quite good game and we will see what happens as we take on Russia on Tuesday” Kmet says.

“As for the game we won with Turkey, Juraj Zatko was the one who helped us come back from two sets down. With this in mind our head coach decided to opt for Juraj also for the game with Poland even though our setters, the other being Michal Masny, are both great players. It is very important to know that you always have an excellent back-up and this could make the difference also with RussiaKmet concludes.
