Host Congo Brazzaville and Gabon secured their tickets to the final phase of the qualifier as top two ranked teams of the zone, while Cameroon is automatically qualified being one of the top three teams in the FIVB ranking.
Cameroon defeated Gabon 3-1 (25-13, 25-23, 23-25, 25-15) in their first match before they overcame Chad 3-0 (25-19, 25-10, 25-17) in the second encounter. They continued their clean sweep by beating host Congo Brazzaville 3-2 (24-26, 25-11, 25-20, 18-25,15-8) to finish at the top of the standings with 3-0 and 8 points.
Congo Brazzaville joined Cameroon to the final phase of the qualifier after they finished in the second position with win-loss ratio of 2-1 (7 points). Gabon came third with 1-2 (2 points) to secure also their qualification ticket. Chad ended in the fourth position (0-3 with 1 point).
In the Men’s African qualifications, the top two teams from Zone 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 will join Zone 1 and 7 champions to the final phase of the qualifier.
The 12 teams will be joined also by the top three African ranked teams in the FIVB Ranking, making a total of 15 teams to be divided into three final pools. The champions of each pool secure their tickets to the finals of the 2014 FIVB Men’s World Championship in Poland.
