USA coach Karch Kiraly:

First, congratulations to the Dominican Republic. We’ve had many battles. We get to play each other a number of times each year and it’s always difficult. For our team, we have a lot to be proud of. We played against the world’s best in 2013 and got four wins out of five. All 14 of our athletes here made a real contribution to this team effort.”

USA captain Kristin Hildebrand:

“Congratulations to the Dominican team. We’ve had a lot of chances to play them and they are a great team and we always battle back and forth. In the third set, they started to play very well and I’m happy with the way we came back in the fourth and battled to win the match. I’m happy with our result here – 4-1 for USA. We played some great matches and great teams and we look forward to an even stronger 2014.”

Dominican Republic coach Marcos Kwiek:

“Congratulations to USA for a great game. I think my younger payers did great today; they put in a lot of effort and I’m proud of that. Today’s match was a good sounding board for us as we grow, so we’d like to continue our efforts along this line. Our team’s average age is 23, so it’s very young. We need to improve our individual skills and boost our team power. Our path ahead will be hard but I have a lot of hope for the future.”

Dominican Republic captain Bethania De La Cruz:

Today was a really difficult match. We have a lot of experience playing USA in the past, but today was not a good day for us. At the start in particular we didn’t focus and our attacks didn’t result in winning points. The good thing was we took a set. For next year, we need to rebuild our team.”
