Women Coach of the Year: Giovanni Guidetti – Vakifbank & Germany
Italian coach took over Vakifbank in the 2008 and his hard work is now showing results. Those are not just great results, those results are in the all-time best category. Vakifbank won all of their matches in the 2013. and is on the road to defend all of their titles.
Not only he had success with his club but Germany is growing under his guidance. They’ve won European League for the first time in history and also won silver medal at European Championship coming second only to Russia.
Men Coach of the Year: Andrei Voronkov – Lokomotiv Novosibirsk & Russia
When Voronkov took over Russia after the great Vladimir Alekno, everyone had doubts how the national team will perform under the new coach. But Voronkov silenced all of his critics by rejuvenating his squad and won European Championship as well as the World League, both in the summer of 2013.
With his club Lokomotiv Novosibirsk, he managed to win the most prestigious trophy there is in European men’s volleyball – CEV Champions League. Lokomotiv got the place in the Champions League final four as the host and caused a major upset in the semi-finals. Strong favourite to win it all, Zenit Kazan was out after five sets! In the final Cuneo came up short in tie-break 16-14, and Russians claim the top of the Europe.
