Calcit Volley dominates rivals OTP Banka Branik with back-to-back wins in the national league and Middle European League, showcasing their strong form this season.
Calcit Volley’s women’s volleyball team is hitting their stride, as evidenced by their recent victories over fierce rivals OTP Banka Branik. After defeating them in the national championship on Saturday, they followed up with a 3-1 (17-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-19) win in the (MEVZA) Middle European League.
Both matches took place in Maribor, and Calcit now leads their head-to-head clashes this season 2-1. Under coach Bruno Najdić, the team tops the Middle European League standings after two tournaments. Yesterday, they also secured a dominant 3-0 victory against Zagreb’s Mladost, who had earlier overwhelmed Maribor.
Lara Rituper led Calcit with 18 points, while new rinforcement, Croatian opposite Mika Grbavica added 16. For Maribor, Iza Mlakar shone with 25 points. OTP Banka now sits fourth in the standings, behind Zagreb teams Dinamo and Mladost, while Gen-I Volley is fifth with one win from four matches.
