Sweden’s women’s volleyball team is entering an exciting era with a historic World Championship debut, CEV Golden League Final Four, and a home European Championship on the horizon. Leading the charge is Italian coach Lorenzo Micelli, a seasoned winner with over 20 years of top-level experience.
“It’s an honor to coach this team. There’s something special about this group, and playing major tournaments at home will be an unforgettable experience,” says Micelli.
Sweden’s success in recent years has turned heads, and Micelli’s appointment signals big ambitions. “His experience is invaluable as we take the next step,” says sports director Angelica Ljungqvist.
Golden League Action at Home
Swedish fans won’t have to wait long to see the team in action. In May and June 2025, they’ll defend their European Golden League title with home games in Örebro and Ängelholm.
